The nations thrift stores,  including Goodwill and the Salvation Army are reporting higher than average sales.  With the economy in such a scary place, people are looking for all kinds of ways to save money and buying second hand can do just that.  It also promotes a greener environment, giving another life to clothes and other items that would  been destined for your local landfill, and keeping down unnecessary production of new goods.

Thrift stores are a great place to buy clothes.   Clothing for women and children are the easiest to find.  Kids will frequently outgrow clothes before they’re rendered unwearable.  Baby clothes (first 12 months or so) are always plentiful and are frequently brand spanking new.  This is because people don’t take into account how big a baby will be and what season they will be that big when buying clothes for a shower gift.

Women change sizes often and will donate their “fat clothes” which may be just the size you are looking for.    Lot’s of people donate their used clothing on a regular basis so it’s not all polyester leisure suits from the 70’s, but you can still find some if that’s what you’re looking for. Additionally, thrift stores are great for 70’s and 80’s themed parties.  If you want to dress up as 80’s Madonna you will find just the outfit at your local thrift store.
